Will the mesh show when I part my hair? It is a fair first question. Fitted right, the mesh sits under your own hair, your hair is pulled through it, and the goal is a part that reads as yours.
Mesh integration is one of the custom hair enhancements we do at Lumina Extensions & Beauty Bar in Cary. Every new one starts with a consultation, because the right fit depends on your hair and not on a menu. If you want to talk it through, book your consultation.
Who does mesh integration in Cary, NC?

What mesh integration is, and who it fits
Mesh integration is a custom hair enhancement built on a fine, lightweight mesh. Your own hair is pulled through the openings, and the added hair blends in around it. Because the piece is secured to your hair, it stays put between move-ups. It suits clients with thinning in a defined area who still have enough of their own hair around it to blend.
We work with hair loss from thinning, alopecia, or treatment. Mesh integration is one part of our custom hair enhancements. It isn't right for everyone. If the thinning is wider, or an area has too little hair left to blend, a topper or another approach may serve you better.
We'll say so at the consultation, even when that means a different plan than the one you hoped for. We also don't diagnose why hair thins. That's a question for your doctor. What we offer is cosmetic: more hair where you want it, blended so it reads as yours.
Why choose Lumina for mesh integration
The room, the fit and the training here are all built around hair loss work.
A private room, not a busy floor. Your consultation and install happen in a private room, away from a row of stations. If this is the first time you've talked to anyone about your hair, that matters more than it sounds. You are never rushed. One of our clients put it this way in a Google review: "I love the vibe in the salon and the outcome of my hair..."
Custom from color to cut. We match color, density and length to your own hair, then cut the piece into it. The goal is a natural part and a lightweight feel, so you're not feeling like you're wearing a wig. You can see how our enhancement work blends on our Instagram.
Training in more than one method. Hair loss work is the center of what we do here, week in and week out. Kristi is certified in two mesh integration programs plus the IBE, NBR and Laced extension methods. That means we can weigh every option in one conversation and recommend the one that fits your hair. You can read more about the studio on our team page.
What happens at your mesh integration appointment
Your mesh integration happens in stages, and you'll know each one before it starts.
-
Start with the consultation. We look at where your hair is thinning, how much of your own hair is there, and its texture and color. We also ask how you wear it day to day.
-
Review your plan before you commit. You'll leave knowing which option fits, what the install involves and what upkeep looks like. Nothing goes in until you say yes.
-
Match the piece to you. Color, density and length are chosen to blend with your hair.
-
Install it in the private room. Your hair is pulled through the mesh and the piece is secured. We give it the time it needs.
-
Cut and blend. We cut the added hair into yours until the two blend, then style it so you see the finished look before you leave.
-
Come back for your move-up. Your hair grows, and the piece moves with it. We set the move-up schedule with you once the hair is in, then adjust it at each move-up.
When you're ready, request your consultation online. If a visit needs to move, our reschedule and cancellation policy explains how.
What mesh integration costs
Mesh integration is priced by the work your hair needs, so your quote comes from the consultation. The size of the thinning area, the length and density you want, and the color match all shape it. Current pricing lives on our service menu. You'll see the full plan and the quote before anything goes in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get extensions if my hair is thinning?
Yes, in some cases. Traditional extensions need enough of your own hair to carry their weight. When the thinning sits on top, mesh integration or another enhancement is often the better match.
How do I choose between a topper and mesh integration?
It comes down to where your hair has thinned and how much of your own hair is there to blend. Mesh integration suits thinning in a defined area with enough surrounding hair to blend. A topper suits wider thinning, or an area with too little hair to blend. A topper can usually come off when you choose, depending on how it attaches, while mesh integration stays in between move-ups.
Will mesh integration damage my hair?
When it's fitted to your hair and kept on schedule, the risk of damage stays low. Strain comes from too much weight on fine hair, or from a piece pulled too tight. Our post on whether extensions damage your hair covers the at-home side.
Is mesh integration an option if I have alopecia?
Yes, for some clients. It depends on how much of your own hair is in the area, since the mesh needs hair to anchor to. We offer a cosmetic way to add hair, not a treatment.
What happens if I skip a move-up?
The piece rides lower as your hair grows, and it starts to pull. At a move-up we check the anchor points for tightness, look at the regrowth along your part, and reset the piece where it should sit. Left too long, it looks less natural and feels less comfortable.
Do I need a consultation first?
Yes. Every new mesh integration, extension and hair loss service at Lumina starts with one. It's how we make sure you book the right appointment from the start.
